What services are offered by city animal services?
Once upon a time, if you had a problem with wildlife, you would give the city animal services a call and then would deal with the situation. However, these days, the demand for help with wild animal problems, and even strays, is so high that most local authorities cannot deal with it, hence the need for more and more wildlife control experts and companies. This doesn’t really help you when it comes to a pesky raccoon or a troublesome coyote however, but this is not to say that you cannot call upon the local services for help. If you ever have a problem with any animal issue, you can give them a call or find out more information on their websites, and if they are not the people that can help you, they will usually be able to point you in the direction of someone that will.
Different states and cities will have different rules and regulations when it comes to animals, both wild and domesticated, so if you ever need information, it would be best to check out the individual websites and services offered. As we have mentioned, they will help you in some way, even if it is not the help that you had hoped for.
Generally, the city animal services will help with domesticated animals, (pets) such as birds, cats, rabbits, dogs, hamsters, gerbils, etc. Snakes and other reptiles are usually not dealt with by the authorities as this is more of a specialist field. They will be able to help you however, with things such as licensing for your pet, breed and breeding groups, transportation of pets, local shelters, adoptions and even complaints such as those made by a caring owner in the case of an abused or neglected pet. They will even be able to help you in cases of pet emergencies.
Another thing that the city animal services are helpful for is with pet vaccinations – they can give you a lot of information about which ones you will need in order for your pet to be fit and healthy, as well as ensuring that all licensed pet owners have these done. If you are in need of a helping hand, these guys can help you!
As we have mentioned, each animal services division will have a little something different to help you, so if you ever have any questions, don’t hesitate to give them a call. Whether you have a pet problem, or a wild animal issue, they can either give you informative advice on where to turn to, numbers and places of people that can help you, and in the cases of pets, can even help with shelters, temporary fostering and much more. They may not get rid of the wild animal that you have problems with, but they will point you in the right direction of someone that can, and that kind of information can often be priceless!
